Commentary
Looks like it will be a super robot showdown in the finals, as the Gurren Lagann and Gunbuster both narrowly beat their opponents in the semifinals. But at this level of competition, a close victory is the only victory, with the YF/VF-19 Excalibur and Turn A Gundam putting up an incredible fight. The final this year will also be a Gainax battle, old vs new in that studio’s tradition of insanely over-the-top super robots. The stage is set, and now all that remains is for the final battle!
Ahaha… AH HA HA HA!!! BWAAAAAH HA HA HA!!!!!!! FUCK YOU KAWAMORI FAGGOTS! THIS ONE’S FOR SHIN GETTER ROBO!
We’re going to the Space, Ooover the Fuuuture…
We’re looooking for the place under the Shining Sky…
IMA KOSO NO TOKI DA
The true have kept the spirit alive.
Woot, this is going to be a tough final. Old vs new!
Good show, Turn A! You’re still a hero, but the results of this round of voting were perhaps more proper in the grant scheme of things. I eagerly await the final round! This tournament went from pure garbage to great in no time flat.
Next year is going to be great. I’ve already got my list of nominees ready. Well, I would, but I have a question: will next year’s tourney be carried out like this one, where the final four get automatically re-entered in the GARhalla section? If so, does that mean that the Zaku II is up for renomination? Thanks for the help.
Yeah, Zaku II should be up for nomination again then. It’s GL, Turn A, YF-19, and Gunbuster that’s gonna be off limits.
cool; thanks, sir!
What the fuck is this shit, I don’t even. Who the hell votes bulbakoma?! GOD!
Dat solarbeam, dawg. Way overpowered in first-gen.
Simply perfect!
YES
YEEEESS
YYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAAHAHAAAHHAHAAHAHAHAAAAA
We are all winners now.
GAINAX GOES IN ALL FIELDS
FFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
….YEEEEESSSSSS!!!!
How da hell did Bulbakoma win?!
Plant-dinsoaur-robo-spider-tank beats all.
Congratulations for Gunbuster, well deserved. A Super Robot for realfags, truly an awesome machine.
WAIT GHOSTLIGHTNING, AREN’T YOU UPSET?
No. I heart Gunbuster.
WAIT, BUT YF-19 LOST, IT’S A VF ISN’T IT?
Yeah, and it’s a great one, and it’s a better design than Gunbuster. However, Gunbuster is pretty great too, and iconic — which the YF-19 isn’t.
YOU AREN’T BUTTHERT AT ALL?
No, I’m not a Getterfag.
Also, this isn’t saidesigner/director, saianime, saistudio despite how morons in the comments behave. I don’t really care that it’s an all GAINAX final (even if I am a big fan). I love Gunbuster and Gurren Lagann, though I will vote for the former.
SO YOU DIDN’T VOTE FOR TURN-A?
No. I have a Master Grade Turn A model, and only a Revoltech Gurren Lagann, but for me Turn A is a curious novelty, and I don’t rank it high among my favorite Gundam models. I really just like it as a curiosity. Gurren Lagann on the other hand, is awesome; all versions.
HERE’S THE REALITY:
VARIABLE FIGHTERS WILL NEVER WIN IT ALL, BUT THEY HAVE A CHOKEHOLD ON THE FINAL FOUR AND IN WINNING THE NOMINATIONS. THE ONLY WAY GETTERFAGS WILL HAVE THEIR DAY IS WHEN WE’VE LOST INTEREST IN SAI MECHA AND THE ONLY VOTERS LEFT ARE GETTERFAGS.
Such a grim outlook. Cheer up, old boy ^.^
Now now, don’t be hasty. The VF-1 IS and ALWAYS SHALL BE, iconic. No matter how much even the most hardcore Getterfag (such as myself) may rag on it’s descendants, the original is beyond reproach.
Good.
Team GAINAX final. My dream has been realized. I can’t be any happier.
Uh, hello? Anyone still here?
I’ve got mecha-sized blue ballz here. I need to know who won!
Since executiveotaku seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, I’m calling this one a draw. I personally favour Gunbuster more of the two, but it’s a very close thing. Either way Gainax brings it home again this year.
See you Gundam Fight 2013?
… seriously, is this still going to happen without Ghost, or is exec just calling the whole thing off?
EO is still active on twitter. Someone with an account please talk to him.
Sai-Mecha 2013 should have opened by now. Is it dead, or is executive otaku just done with the tournament, or blogging in general?
