The votes are in, mecha fans! This is Executive Otaku, bringing you the results of this first round of Earth Side voting. The competition was fierce right out of the gate, featuring both new and veteran contestants. Only eight will advance to round two, and here they are!
[NOTE: no long-form writeup this time. I have to get ready to catch a flight tomorrow morning, so just the numbers this time. The full writeups will continue for future rounds.]

Also Zeorymer almost won, Get your act together, Getter fans.
What can I say, the trolls hated us ALMOST enough to kick us out of the running. Almost. How can some people have seen Zeoryemr yet never even HEARD of Getter Robo? It boggles the mind.
The only reason Getter won is so that everyone can drink your salty, salty tears when it gets booted out in a later stage.
I’m okay with this. So long as it loses to Gurren Lagann.

I’m OK with all of this.

2. Voted against, but I’m glad that it won anyway.
3. For, and I’m glad it survived the first round. Even if it gets kicked out later, I’m cool with it.
4. For – spider mecha in general don’t do it for me. Even though I don’t like the Zeta much more, it had the edge in this one.
5. For. Luck of the draw I guess, but they’re pretty even in terms of world-busting power – and out of the two of them, Getter’s less bulky, has a more streamlined design, and has 100% less affiliation with Lemon People. Even if you ignore the manga version (oh dear GOD ignore it), the only thing I can associate it with from the show is its theme – and as godlike as it is, it’s not enough to earn my vote in this instance.
6. For. Wasn’t a fan of the show, but the Nirvash is just crazy cool.
7. For. GOOD TASTE PREVAILS. (Am I snubbing it the right way?)
8. Against, but I can deal.
BONUS ROUND: For. I mean, I voted against it in the actual round, but at least the mech is an actual part of the show. I mean, I don’t know how I’d react if any of the other shows won this one.
Well, three out of four ain’t bad. I’m angry that the Messiah made it through. Why the hell should it when the VASTLY superior Durandal is waiting to soar on the Colonies Side?
